The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) is today hosting a seminar dealing with Energy Efficiency for hotels and the tourism sector.
It is organized as part of BELTRAIDE’s commitment to develop and enhance the capacity and competiveness of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Belize.
Joint facilitators for the event include the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Scotia Bank of Belize.
The objective of the workshop is to assist and support Belize SMEs from the tourism sector in reducing their energy costs. The event will show possible ways to implement energy-efficient measures and to receive the best available assistance from GREENPYME, an energy efficiency initiative launched in 2008 by the IIC which have been successful within the Caribbean.
Also present at this workshop, will be the 12 SMEs that were selected by IIC to actively participate in the Walk Through Energy Audit conducted during November & December 2009, by Jamaican consultant, Mr. Eaton Haughton hired by ECONOLER an Energy Efficiency consulting firm, from Canada. These SMEs will be sharing their experiences and constraints they face as they align themselves to the concept of energy efficiency.
It is being held at the conference room of the Belize Institute of Management (BIM), Chancellor Avenue, West Landivar, Belize City.
