Jamaica produces 1st solar studio
July 20th, 2011Sugashak Records, a new Jamaican music and video production studio, was recently opened in Mango Valley, St Mary, by Christopher L. Kaufman.
Powered by solar energy, Sugashak is Jamaica’s first eco-friendly recording studio.
Located 800 feet above sea level with magnificent views of the Oracabessa coastline, Sugashak has begun by signing singer Keke-I – a protégé of Sugar Minott. The combination has already produced the first three singles from Keke-I’s upcoming album.
Wah Wood a mento ballad; Candle In The Wind, a reggae re-mix of the Credence Clearwater revival hit, and the Nyabinghi reggae song (Nah Stoop) Go Round Dem on Pinnacle – the label’s first rhythm release. This song has been given a positive review by top Irie FM radio show host Elise Kelly on her popular daily show Easy Skankin.
Sugashak’s in-house producer-composer Makonnen Blake-Hannah has recorded hits for such artistes as Capleton, Third World, Turbulence. Andrew & Wadda Blood and Teflon, to name a few.
